The first half of the book is mostly about basic training and Liam’s positive and negative camaraderie with his fellow soldiers. When Liam begins his first tour in Afghanistan, the past catches him up in an unexpected way.

The details of training seemed realistic and this book might appeal to young boys with an interest in the Army. Oct 28, Chris Harrison rated it liked it. I didn’t realise this was the 1st in a series of books. A pretty easy read that I got through over 2 days sunbathing on holiday. Starts of with the training phase before the new recruits are thrown into the war zone.

He served in B Squadron 22 SAS for ten years and worked on both covert and overt special operations worldwide, including anti-terrorist and anti-drug operations in the Middle and Far East, South and Central America and Northern Ireland.
